The two most-recommended air fryers on this site, head to head. They cost roughly the same to run, cook roughly as well as each other, and are separated by exactly one thing that matters.

The short answer
If the nonstick coating is something you would rather not have, buy the Cosori TurboBlaze: a published PFAS-free ceramic basket, six quarts, a 450°F ceiling and the quietest motor in the category. If it is not, buy the Ninja AF141: it costs less, does the same everyday cooking, and at 1,750 watts across 5 quarts it has more power per quart than anything Cosori sells. Their running costs are identical to within a tenth of a cent, so nothing on the electricity side should influence this decision at all.
These are the two machines people actually end up choosing between, because they are the ones at the top of most lists — ours included. The listings make them sound like different species: one is 9-in-1 with a DC motor and a ceramic basket, the other is 4-in-1 with a dishwasher-safe nonstick one. Strip the marketing away and they are close enough that four of the five differences are trivia, and the fifth is a value judgment rather than a performance question.

Watts per quart, the number neither of them prints
Both makers publish a wattage, which puts them in a minority — most of this category does not — so for once a direct comparison is possible. Divide the power by the capacity and the Ninja has 350 watts per quart against the Cosori's 288. That is a 21% advantage in power density, and it is the closest thing to a measure of how fast a chamber recovers after cold food goes into it.
In practice this shows up in one place: a full basket. With a light load both machines have far more power than they need. Fill a 6-quart Cosori to the top with frozen fries and it takes longer to get back to temperature than a full 5-quart Ninja does, because there is more thermal mass being served by slightly less power. The 50 degrees at the top, and the 310 at the bottom
Cosori publishes a 90–450°F range; Ninja publishes up to 400°F. Both ends of that gap do something.
The 450°F ceiling matters for a narrow but common set of jobs — frozen fries, wings, anything you want aggressively browned in a short time. Fifty degrees is not the difference between cooking and not cooking, but it is the difference between eighteen minutes and fourteen.
The 90°F floor matters more than people expect, because it is what makes the dehydrate function on the Cosori a real function rather than a menu item. A 400°F-only machine cannot hold a low temperature for hours. The coating, which is the actual decision
Everything above is a matter of degree. This is the one binary difference.
The Ninja AF141 has a conventional PTFE nonstick basket and Ninja states it is dishwasher-safe. Our sourced position on PTFE is that at the temperatures an air fryer reaches it is stable and authorized for cookware, and we are not going to pretend otherwise — the evidence, with its sources, is in are air fryers toxic. The real practical objection to a coated basket is not toxicity, it is that coatings wear, and a worn basket is the most common reason a working air fryer gets replaced, as set out in why air fryer baskets peel.
The Cosori's basket is ceramic and Cosori publishes a PFAS-free claim for it. That is a checkable statement about a whole chemical family rather than a marketing synonym for nonstick, and since PTFE is itself a PFAS, it is a meaningful one. It is also a manufacturer claim rather than something anyone independently measures, and we say so every time we repeat it. Ceramic coatings also tend to lose their release properties sooner than PTFE does over a period of years — a different trade rather than a strictly better one. Noise, which is the difference you will actually notice
The TurboBlaze uses a DC motor with five fan speeds; the Ninja uses a conventional single-speed motor. This is the one difference that is obvious from across a room rather than on a spec sheet, and in an open-plan kitchen where the machine runs twenty feet from a television it is not a small thing. What each costs to run, which is nothing to choose between
Here is the arithmetic in full, because this is the claim everyone makes and nobody shows. Cost is kilowatts times hours times your rate. At the U.S. average residential rate of about $0.17 per kWh, for a 20-minute cook:

Function counts are the least useful number on either box. The Ninja's four are air fry, roast, reheat and dehydrate; the Cosori's nine add variations most people will press once. What the extra functions genuinely buy on the Cosori is the temperature range that makes the low ones possible — see above — rather than the count itself. The verdict
Buy the Ninja AF141 if you want the most cooking for the least money, you cook full baskets of frozen food, and a nonstick coating does not bother you. It is our overall pick in the best air fryers roundup and it earns that on results per dollar.
Buy the Cosori TurboBlazeif the coating question matters to you, if you want the 450°F ceiling or the 90°F floor, or if noise is a live issue in your kitchen. You are paying more for a materials claim, a quieter motor and a wider temperature range — all real, none of them about how well it crisps a chicken thigh.
Buy neither if what you actually want is no coating at all rather than a different one. That is a glass machine, and it is a different conversation.
