Standards
Editorial policy
The rules we hold ourselves to, written down so you can hold us to them too.
Independence
Our recommendations are editorially independent. Brands cannot buy a placement, a higher ranking, or the removal of a criticism, and we accept no sponsored content and no free products in exchange for coverage. We earn affiliate commissions (see the affiliate disclosure), and that revenue never influences a verdict — when a cheaper machine is the better buy, we recommend it anyway.
Sourcing and accuracy
Every factual claim is grounded in a checkable source: manufacturer specifications and manuals for capacity, wattage and materials; food-safety agencies (FDA, EPA, USDA) for safety questions; and the U.S. Energy Information Administration for electricity rates. Where we cite a figure, we name and link the source. Where we could not verify something, we say so on the page rather than presenting a guess as fact.
No fabrication
These are firing-offense rules for us, not aspirations:
- No invented prices. Prices come only from the live Amazon feed and vanish when stale — we never type one in.
- No fake testing. We do not run a test lab, we do not claim hands-on testing we didn't do, and our scores are labeled as judgments from documented research, not lab measurements.
- No fabricated reviews or ratings. We publish no customer testimonials and emit no aggregate star ratings in structured data, because we have none of our own to aggregate.
- No invented credentials. Our author is described honestly as an enthusiast; we never claim a degree, certification, or expertise we don't hold.
Author and expertise
Articles are written by Preheat Club's editor, Stephen V., framed honestly as an enthusiast rather than a credentialed expert (see the author page). Our full evaluation method — sourcing, the scoring rubric, and the running-cost calculation — is published on how we review.
Corrections and updates
Every page shows a visible last-updated date. Prices refresh continuously; roundups are reviewed at least quarterly and safety guides re-checked against source updates. If we get a material fact wrong and you tell us, we correct it within 48 hours and note the change on the page. Flag anything via our contact page.
Medical and safety note
Our safety guides summarize public, primary-source information; they are not medical advice. For a specific health concern, consult a qualified professional.
